ITINERARY

We will pick you up from your hotel at 3:00 a.m. Then we drive to little city CHIVAY, which is the capital of the CAYLLOMA province. Here we will eat a continental breakfast. Afterwards we will go to the viewing point CRUZ DEL CONDOR, where we will arrive around 8:00 a.m. At this viewing point you will have a good chance of seeing the CONDOR fly, a magnificent bird with a wingspan of three meters. You can also enjoy the view over the COLCA Canyon. We will stay here for approximately one hour and then continue to Cabanaconde town (just for a few minutes because that stop is to pick up the trekking tourists). Then we will return to Chivay, stopping on the way at the natural viewing points WAYRAPUNKU, CHOQUETICO and ANTAHUILQUE and the villages PINCHOLLO, MACA and YANQUE. Around 12:00 p.m. we will arrive in CHIVAY and visit the hot springs, LA CALERA. The medicinal water has a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. Originally the water has temperature of 78 degrees Celsius, but after a few processes this is diminished to 36 degrees Celsius. The medicinal water has a beneficial effect on arthritis, rheumatism and skin diseases. In CHIVAY we will lunch and afterwards our return to AREQUIPA begins. On our way back we will make two stops. We will pass the highest point from our journey at 4910 m.a.s.l., which also is a viewing point over the ANDES. During the return to AREQUIPA you will be able to see ‘ LOS BOFEDALES DE TOCRA PAMPA’, migratory birds and native birds in their natural environment and national park SALINAS and AGUADA BLANCA. In this national park you can look at the three SOUTH AMERICAN camel species; vicuña, llama and alpaca. Around 6:00 p.m. we will arrive in Arequipa.
